Challenges of Move Management

Dealing with Moves/Adds/Changes (MAC) is challenging since employees do not always notify facilities when they change their location. This often leads to inaccurate space utilization data and can sometimes misrepresent departmental use of space. Unfortunately, the facilities team is too often the last group to know when a person is assigned a workspace in the facility!

The typical tool used for managing MACs is a basic spreadsheet that collects move lists. This sheet likely has columns for the name of the person moving, the scheduled move date, from-and-to locations, and move-related questions about the need for boxes/crates, computer hardware, and other workstation configurations such as ergonomics and furniture. These spreadsheets are prone to errors/typos, require careful revision control, and do not show spatial floor plan maps.
